I lead the Artificial Intelligence aided Design and Manufacturing group at the Computer Graphics Department of the Max Planck Institute for Informatics. I was a postdoctoral researcher at Computer Science and Artificial Intelligence Laboratory (CSAIL) of Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) where I was a member of the Computational Design and Fabrication Group, led by professor Wojciech Matusik. During this time I made a research visit at MMCI,
hosted by Prof. Piotr Didyk.
I obtained my PhD in Computer Science from Ecole Polytechnique Fédérale de Lausanne (EPFL).
My thesis (supervised by Prof. Roger D. Hersch) focused on computational printing where I developed a novel reproduction workflow for printing with non-standard materials.
I am a recipient of two postdoctoral fellowships awarded by the Swiss National Science Foundation, and the Hermann Neuhaus Prize of the Max Planck Society.
My research interest lies at the intersection of design, manufacturing and artificial intelligence. My research goal is to develop data-driven algorithms for both engineering design and advanced manufacturing, leading to products with unprecedented, interesting and useful properties.
